Designer Spotlight: Dede Brown

Published: Wednesday October 10th, 2007

As the daughter of owner Linda Brown, Dede Brown has been brought up in the Bahama Hand Prints family and is now excited to join the team of designers as a junior screen maker.

Dede’s strong sense of Bahamian culture and her passion for her native heritage is evident in Starfish – the first of her prints to make it to commercial production. Used primarily in apparel collections, this print is a simplistic, yet delicate, scattering of starfish across the screen with a large amount of negative space.

Dede’s knack for creating fashionable apparel prints is no accident, as a graduate of the Savannah School of Art & Design, she majored in Interior Design and developed an ability to translate pattern, into functional use.

This is just the first of many future exciting prints she intends to bring to Bahama Hand Prints.
